Mets’ Edwin Diaz walkout music to be used as wedding song after viral tweet

Mets fans have loved Edwin Diaz’s “Narco” entrance with trumpets blaring as the closer comes in to lock down another save this season.

But no fan may love it more than John Nolan, who will be using the music as his wedding reception song in December after more than 16,000 fans liked a tweet of his.

“This has transcended sports,” Nolan told The Post. “Sports can bring people together. Music can bring people together. This has been the perfect collision of that.”

Diaz’s entrance has exploded in popularity this season, as SNY has occasionally passed on airing commercials in order to show him coming in from the bullpen, complete with Mr. and Mrs. Met playing trumpets.

“A lot of credit goes to SNY for capturing the scenes,” said Nolan, a Mets fan since the mid-1990s. “And a lot of credit to Edwin Diaz and his teammates that he’s had so much success this season. Mets fans are so hungry to support a winning team.”

Nolan, a broadcaster for the Fort Wayne Tincaps, the Padres High-A affiliate, began dating Nicole Muha in 2018 and she moved to Indiana right before the pandemic. They became engaged last October but didn’t go to a Mets game together until July, a night when Diaz closed the door on the Padres.

When Nolan suggested using the Blasterjaxx and Timmy Trumpet song for their wedding if a tweet about it was liked 3,900 times.

“I thought 3,900, perhaps in some pipe dream, was attainable,” he said.

The tweet quickly became popular, including a like from Diaz himself.

“I was one of the guys who gave a like,” Diaz told NBC. “I saw it and I pressed the like button. I hope they do it. That’s fun.”

SNY did its part, tweeting “Help John out.”

The couple has been blown away by the attention, with Nolan saying the public has spoken.

“We would have no honor and integrity if we didn’t play it now,” he said.

Nolan said Diaz is welcome at the December wedding in Morristown, NJ.

“He’s got more important things to worry about through October,” he said. “But that would be the sugar on top.”
