  1. For New York City, the homicide rate in 2020 was 5.6 per 100,000 people, slightly below the national average of 6.5. Miami, however, experienced a 12.8 homicide rate per 100,000 in 2020—more than twice that of NYC. Miami's violent crime rate of 556 in 2020, though, was a bit lower than New York City's 584.

  2. I wish citrus county florida would follow your lead. Property taxes doubled in 4 years. Base water bill (not turned on) tripled in one increase, now $500/year, as much as the INCREASED property tax. Sales tax revenue doubled (as prices of taxable items has doubled and tripled in some cases) and they discuss raising sales tax rate? All this with an unprecedented influx of new residents building.

  3. My grandfather was a Miami fireman’s in the 60,70,80s He married Chief Headlys personal secretary, years later he was working the mcduffy riots and he had to carry a gun on the truck to protect himself, after the civil rights era the place has always been dangerous especially in the projects, when they moved the projects down to other areas like Homestead ,
Princeton and Naranja the crime started to drop for Miami and the biggest problem was the police selling coke. This mayor is doing a great job like his dad did.

  4. the mayor is completely wrong with leading off with "increasing funding for police" – that's actually the 2nd reason crime is at it's lowest for a major city… 1st being – you have a Republican Mayor… therefore you will have some if not a good bit of conservative values pumped into the institutions. crime runs rampant in democrat controlled cities…

  5. If every governor pretty much just copied DeSantis and every mayor just copied Suarez….just think what this county would be like. It boggles that mind that it's possible, yet so many choose a different path.

    SBG for life.

  6. And this is considering Miami is far larger and far more heavily populated than it was back when its homicide rate was this low. So, it's way more of a success than it looks and it already looks good.

  7. Wow! Go Miami. I live here on the Florida Panhandle, so I didn't know any of this, though it fits the general standards of Florida overall and I'm encouraged to hear this news.

  8. This is about Hostage's taking with the demoncraps not taking responsibility for their failure and arrogant policies. They are dead in the water, can't wait until November.

  9. This is the america i know of and love not this woke crap that's been going on lately and these DAs that are screwing up our cities
